Thank you to all those who entered last month's story competition.

Unfortunately some very good stories have more than 500 words so are disqualified. Stories already submitted may be resubmitted in future months with some editing to qualify them.

Keep writing your stories about yourself and Emily, Amy, Jasmine, Belle and Matilda. Remember to keep them short and interesting. Funny is always good too.

Congratulations to Lauren aged 10 from South Australia,
from the Australian Girl Team!

This is her story...

CLYDESDALE!

One lovely Monday Lauren’s cousin, Molly, and Lauren’s uncle were staying at her house. So Lauren and I (Belle) had the day off school. We live in Victor Harbor so we went for a walk down to the water. After that we walked to where the horse drawn tram stopped. There I saw it, the biggest most graceful animal in the world, Mac the Clydesdale. His big head swung around when I called his name. I patted his nose and his breath was warm on my cold skin. Then Lauren and I walked to where her uncle and her cousin stood with our tickets ready to hop onto the tram. We went straight to the top of the tram looking directly down on Mac. With a sudden bump, off we went across the bridge to Granite Island. We waved to the people as they walked past and they waved back. Then CREEK!!!!

The bridge was old and I got scared. I looked down at Mac, I think he was scared too, so he sped up. “It’s ok belle, this bridge is very strong” Lauren said reassuringly. “Don’t worry Mac” I shouted down to Mac. When we got to the island Mac got a carrot and we started our journey back across the bridge. When the tram stopped again where we got on, I gave Mac a big hug and said, “Thank you for the ride Mac.”

When I think of that day I can feel the wind in my hair and that beautiful horse’s loving, warm breath on my shoulder.
